Movie Review: Venom: The Last Dance

“Sometimes, to move forward, you have to dance with your demons.”

This is how we are introduced to the final chapter of Venom. It’s a departure from the typical sci-fi horror genre and presents a psychological thriller. For those who have watched Venom’s previous movies, this one might come as a different experience.

The movie showcases two different timelines and perspectives. Eddie Brock’s perspective is shown in regular color grading, while Venom’s perspective is portrayed in black and white. Tom Hardy, playing Eddie Brock, reaches the pinnacle of his acting prowess. He beautifully captures the inner conflict of Eddie, making the audience feel a deep connection with his character.

The movie starts with Eddie, who is deeply frustrated with his life. His relationship with Venom is fraught with conflict. Meanwhile, Venom is on a quest to find himself. When Eddie and Venom’s relationship takes a new turn, the real story begins. The narrative progresses with the intertwining of Eddie’s daily life and Venom’s presence.

Each moment of the film is packed with excitement and the film moves at a fast pace. Tom Hardy’s outstanding performance, combined with Venom’s visual effects and the background score, elevates the movie to new heights. Particularly, the different stages of Eddie and Venom’s relationship are depicted with precision.

The background music and sound effects are seamlessly integrated with the dialogues, enhancing the tension and excitement of the movie. The dialogues between Venom and Eddie evoke unique emotions in the viewers.

Personal Opinion:
In comparison to the previous Venom movies, “Venom: The Last Dance” does not stand out. The story arc and villain setup were particularly weak. Knull, who is a primordial deity and the creator of the symbiotes in the comics, was portrayed as just an old man by Sony. This is quite disappointing for fans expecting a more formidable adversary. In the comics, Knull is depicted as an evil deity who created the weapon known as All-Black the Necrosword and the alien races known as the Klyntar/Symbiotes and Exolons. He is a character of immense power and terror, making his portrayal in the movie feel underwhelming.

Overall, Venom’s final journey offers a fresh experience for the audience. Tom Hardy’s brilliant acting and the movie’s excellent presentation make it truly special. The impact of watching this film in a theater will linger for a long time.

Some spoiler-filled discussions:

  1. There is a major climactic fight scene that will leave the audience highly satisfied. The psychological conflict between Venom and a new adversary is brilliantly portrayed.
  2. Towards the end of the movie, an emotional moment arises that will touch the hearts of the viewers. The final culmination of Eddie and Venom’s relationship is deeply moving.

Ending with two favorite dialogues:

“We are Venom.”

“Sometimes, the last dance is the most beautiful one.”
