I speak from here, the ocean of my heart.
It’s enormous, it’s blue
Especially when the warmth of the world changes its hue.
It sparkles at day when the ships come along
And darkens at night as the waves tag along.
When the gloom of night shines bright on the sky
The ocean remains calm and so do I.
But, today I left the door open,
To let out the storms that had been silently weeping.
The storm gushed out like a wound when it bled
Taking over the ocean
Like a caged animal that got released.
Pranced its way as if it was Poseidon himself.
The knights of the sky came next
Seized the Kohinoor that guided the travellers of the twilight.
The ocean prepared,
To stitch the incision that threatened to reopen tonight.
The dark lords of the ocean arose as high as mountains
Teeth white as pearl but now dark as coal
Lowered their guard ready to let go
The screams of the core that pierced every soul.
The darkened night became darker as the battle went on
Tried to clutch on to the ships that sailed on
Only to find the ships had sailed north.
Accompanies at day, leaves at night
I vainly clutch the water so as not to lose sight.
I cried and cried and let my tears overflow the ocean
It sheltered my pearls as the oysters mothered their own.
Then I let go of the last sight of the known
And sunk to the deepest and darkest of the unknown.
I will now rest here.
The lords of the sea shook hands with the knights of the sky
And the warmth arose again to heal the wounds of the prey.
Slowly, the ships came back finding the ocean serene,
I calmed my waves and let them invade
Only to drown the deserters, not to guide the quitters.
